What is Case 2021-0518?
Case 2021-0518 is the EDPS’ decision following an investigation into the European Commission’s use of Microsoft 365. In its decision, the EDPS identified breaches of purpose limitation, international data transfers, and unauthorised disclosures of personal data, and imposed a number of corrective measures on the Commission.
Thomas Zerdick, Head of Unit “Supervision and Enforcement” at the EDPS, and colleagues will present the background and main conclusions of the decision as well as the key lessons for controllers. He will also provide a broader introduction to the role and work of the EDPS, followed by a Q&A session (in English).
We hope the meeting will allow us not only to sharpen our understanding of the Microsoft 365 case but also to gain useful context about the EDPS’ supervisory activities more generally.

Hvad er Case 2021-0518?
Case 2021-0518 er EDPS’ beslutning efter en undersøgelse af EU-Kommissionens brug af Microsoft 365. I beslutningen konstaterede EDPS brud på formålsbegrænsning, internationale dataoverførsler og uautoriserede videregivelser af persondata, og pålagde Kommissionen en række korrigerende foranstaltninger.
Thomas Zerdick, Head of Unit ”Supervision and Enforcement” hos EDPS, og kolleger vil præsentere baggrund og hovedkonklusioner i beslutningen samt de vigtigste læringspunkter fra sagen. Han vil desuden give en bredere introduktion til EDPS’ rolle og arbejde, og derefter deltage i spørgsmål og svar (på engelsk).
